Hole #8

hole1

The official measurement of the eighth hole is 386 yards. However, this is one hole where the measured length does not always come into play. This hole takes an almost 90 degree turn to the right after a perfect drive. Your first shot is over one of three lateral water hazards. These hazards range from 175 yards to your left, to 275 yards to your right from the tee depending on your angle of attack. A safe shot left places you on the fairway with 235 yards to go to reach the green. Shortening the distance to the pin by going right requires a good drive to clear the water. Splitting the difference with too long a drive lands you in one of three fairway bunkers across the fairway.

But once again McCumber insists on the proper play. Don't plan on running it up to the green. There's another water hazard awaiting you just in front.
